What an incredible day for the 2005 Heart of Virginia festival! The sun shone brightly without it getting too hot and there was a tremendous variety of talent for all to enjoy. After several years of having to hold the art show festival it was back in its front of the newly restored Longwood University Rotunda. It wonderful to walk in front of the magnificent Rotunda building and enjoy the tremendous selection of artistic talent on display.

As usual the day was kicked off at the Downtown Stage. Audience members at the Downtown Stage were treated to a great selection of music from seasoned professionals as well the hopeful amateurs who took part in the Showcase of Stars. The winners of the Showcase of Stars are: first place Creigh Riepe Singing "I can only imagine" ($250.00 Gift Card From Wal-Mart), second place Ahlee Diggs Singing "Unchained Melody" ($150.00 Gift Card From Wal-Mart), and third place P O K Girls (Peyton Wall & Kari Davis) Singing "Cinderella" ($100.00 Gift Card From Wal-Mart)

Craft Show

The Art Show and the Craft show continue to attract a wide variety of items to browse and are as popular as ever with visitors to the festival. The art show had its biggest participation in several years and the craft show continues to attract a vast array of different goodies for all tastes.

Sons of Steve, the Fireworks, and GrooveSpot

Some threatening clouds blew over Farmville and rain spotted the windows and sidewalks briefly as the Downtown Festival drew to a close. Thankfully it blew over quickly leaving a great evening to sit outside and listen to the artists on stage at the airport. Once again the Town of Farmville out-did itself with an even more fabulous fireworks display than ever before!
