The Downtown Stage

Opening Ceremonies will begin at 10 am with Paster Mark Reuter of the Farmville United Methodist Church delivering the invocation and the Prince Edward County Middle and High School Choirs providing the music for the first portion of the program.

At 11:15, come and enjoy the Fuqua School lower/elementary choir, under the direction of Susan Dotson. At 12 pm, a favorite will return again to the Heart of Virginia Festival, Glenn Shelton. This country music singer has opened for many Nashville Recording Artists including Leanne Womack, Lonestar, and Ricky Van Shelton. Today, Glen brings you his wonderful, down-to-earth vocal stylings of mainly top-40 country hits as well as a few of his original songs.

At 1 pm, enjoy the bluegrass sounds of King Wilkie. King Wilkie is one of the premier young bluegrass bands in the country, winning broad acclaim for their fine musicianship, high energy act, and infectious enthusiasm. King Wilkie delivers with their own mix of traditional bluegrass songs and homespun originals. The band has been well received by both bluegrass devotees and non-bluegrass listeners, and has shared the stage with artists such as Del McCoury, Lonesome River Band, and Tony Rice.
