Johnnie and The Lowdowns

Johnnie and The Lowdowns

Johnnie and The Lowdowns are a classic and contemporary blues band that keep true to the roots of Post-War Chicago style Blues, while adding a twist of their own. With over 30 years of professional experience, the members of Johnnie and the Lowdowns know that the song is more important than any one member; it's all about the groove!

Johnnie and the Lowdowns play a variety of favorites from classic Blues greats, including Muddy Waters, Elmore James, Jimmy Reed, BB and Albert King, and Willie Dixon, while also giving props to some of the more contemporary and urban Blues artists such as David Bromberg and Junior Wells. They also mix in a healthy dose of original material, ranging in styles from Blues, to Swing and New Orleans style R&B. The variety of music will ensure that there is something for everyone!

Old School Freight Train

Another favorite has returned to the Festival! Old School Freight Train, who performed at the Downtown Stage last year, is back! These talented musicians met in college and formed a band that would be "tight" playing spicy bluegrass with Dawg music, Latin rhythms Saturday Evening Outdoor Concert and a mix of originals. It is this type of a one-of-a-kind sound that won Old School Freight Train second place in the band competition at the famous Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado.
